Hospitals In Valencia – Coming To A Street Near You

Pla del Remei, Valencia’s most expensive neighbourhood, is being transformed into a hospital district. Quironsalud and Imed, two big hospitals in Valencia, will soon be welcoming patients in the city’s commercial heart.

According to Valencia Plaza news site, the Imed hospital group will soon have two hospitals in Valencia. The company intends to open its second hospital in the old Iberdrola headquarters on Calle Isabel La Catolica, next to the busy Colon Street.

Since the electricity company relocated to the Aqua Multiespacio complex fourteen years ago, the building has been vacant. According to Valencia Plaza, Imed is in discussions with the Valencia City Council about obtaining the necessary permits to begin the work and, later, the activity. The company is awaiting the mandatory reports from various municipal services.

The Isabel la Catolica centre would be Imed’s second in the Valencia area, where it has had a hospital in the municipality of Burjassot since 2017. Imed also runs a clinic in Gandia, opened two years ago.

If everything goes as planned, we will soon have two brand new hospitals in Valencia’s most expensive and prestigious neighbourhood, Pla del Remei: Imed and Quiron.

Quironsalud opened its Mercado de Colon facility in September of this year, a cutting-edge “private medical digital centre.” The centre is spread over 800 square metres and uses the latest medical technology and instruments. Imed advertised not only its facilities, but also its easy access via public transportation and its rather large parking space.

The centre is located at Cirilo Amorós no. 62, next to the iconic Mercado de Colón, in the space previously occupied by furniture retailer Habitat. Quiron Mercado de Colon is a massive project that will double its current facilities by the middle of 2022. It will include clinical analysis laboratory services, home hospital care, radiography, magnetic resonance imaging, mammography, prenatal diagnosis, and a variety of other services performed on cutting-edge technology.

What makes this centre unique is that it is entirely digital – Quironsalud provides digital self-admission through its application, which is available in both the Apple and Google app stores. The application can store all of the patient’s medical information and test results, and it is also possible to request or modify appointments, as well as receive alerts and reminders about hospital visits. Even prescriptions will be digitalized; using the app, you will be able to receive digital prescriptions and share them with your preferred pharmacy.

It’s difficult to imagine why two major private hospitals in Valencia would locate themselves in the heart of the commercial district, but it’s good news for everyone in the area.
