Platos De Cuchara, For The Fifth Time In Valencia

Thanks to this one-of-a-kind annual event, you will be able to sample some of the best Platos de Cuchara in the province of Valencia during April…

April is gastronomy month in Valencia, with a range of events taking place, and this will not change this year, despite the pandemic. From April 1 to April 18, the Confederation of Hospitality and Tourism of the Valencian Community (CONHOSTUR), in collaboration with Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, organises the Jornadas de los Platos de Cuchara, with the laudable ambition of promoting restaurants in the Province. The event’s name, “Days of the Spoon Dishes”, refers to a food that is traditionally prepared in winter.

Throughout April, some 38 restaurants in the Province will offer special menus featuring the most typical dishes, appetisers, desserts and wines from their respective municipalities. This is the fifth time this event has been held, and it was even held last year, just before the Estado de Alarma was declared. It aims to brand Valencian dishes not only in the capital, but throughout the province, because some traditional recipes are inextricably linked to the region from which they originate and, say organisers, must be tasted there.

Valencia City has the most restaurants participating, but there are also restaurants from Naquera, Cullera, Alzira, Beniparrel, Catarroja, Daimus, El Palmar and Siete Aguas. Each of the 38 restaurants has prepared its own menu with their local specialties, and the list of restaurants, menus, and prices can be found on the event website www.jornadasdecuchara.es.
