Spain Drops All Coronavirus Entry Rules for Third-Country Travellers

Spain no longer imposes Coronavirus entry rules to tourists from non-European Union/Schengen Area nations as of yesterday, October 21, 2022.

According to the Spanish Ministry of Interior, as of October 21, Coronavirus entry rules, a set of health control procedures, and restrictions for non-EU entrants will no longer be applied. This implies that from today, October 22, 2022, all third-country visitors will be able to enter Spain without limitation.

According to the Ministry, visitors who are not EU nationals can now enter Spain even if they do not have a valid vaccination, recovery, or test certificate. Moreover, they are not required to take any further measures.

Apart from not being required to present one of the Coronavirus certificates upon their arrival in Spain, travellers also do not need to complete the health control form. This requirement was dropped earlier in September.

The Spanish Ministry of Health stated that the easing of the Coronavirus entry rules for visitors from other countries was made after considering the COVID-19 situation in the country and throughout the world, as well as vaccination rates.

“Taking into account the evolution of the pandemic at a global level and the epidemiological situation, it is advisable to seize sanitary control measures for people from countries not belonging to the European Union ” the Ministry stressed.

Data provided by the World Health Organization show that a total of 20,652 COVID infection cases were reported in the last seven days.

In terms of vaccination rates, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control reports that as of October 20, Spain has administered 103,064,170 Coronavirus vaccines. According to the same data, 86.0 percent of the adult population has finished primary immunisation, and another 66.3 percent has gotten the first booster dose.

Now that third-country visitors are no longer subject to Coronavirus entry rules it is expected that the number of people choosing the country as a vacation destination will rise.
